Did Altec venture into motional feedback or equivalent driver control systems?

Not in the same manner as the patented Philips' technique, with a sensing coil and associated amp circuitry. Is that what you meant?

That's right. I believe some drivers used an accelerometer as the sensor. With modern electronics this feedback system could be very effective in improving bottom end control of the bass loudspeaker.

Intrepid experimenters could get GPA to modify a speaker and try it out. Unfortunately it is beyond my capabilities.
